Best Nano Drones Under $20 – Review 2020

I am often asked in the office whether drones pay for 20 euros. In most cases I do not think I would need words to answer the question, the facial expression should speak volumes. A drone for a maximum of EUR 20 – that cannot be anything.
Admittedly: My experiences in this respect have suffered in recent times, I like to fly with high quality comrade drones like the DJI Mavic Pro or Phantom 4 – and once I feel like heating through the garden with a small drone, I choose my good old Blade Nano QX.

So why not have some new experiences and immerse yourself in the world of the 20€-Copter?

For this reason I bought 4 mini drones, which may cost a maximum of one blue bill (plus crushed). In this article I will introduce the little speedsters and maybe clear up with my reservations. Maybe they are worth it after all…

Drone for 20 Euro: How the test went

Of course, you can’t make the same demands on such a cheap drone as you make on higher quality models. Drones for 40, 50 or 60 Euro (here you can compare & test the best drones under 100 Euro), usually have small cameras, longer flight times, longer ranges and a better, nobler feel.
Of course, all this could not be put to the test in the test of the 20 Euro drones, here it was all about maximum flying fun for minimum money.

Important criteria were: Flight behaviour (stability, manoeuvrability, spritzigkeit), flight duration, robustness, price-performance ratio

1.) X31 Folding Drone

X31 drone stowed in the remote control
Tiny foldable drone for less than 20 euros.

Price: 18 Euro

Flight time: 4-5 minutes

Charging time: 30 minutes

Special: Foldable

Because I was so excited about the concept, the X31 drone had to make the start. Two things make the X31 particularly exciting: Firstly, it is a foldable drone, so it can be made even smaller and handier by folding the axles, and secondly, the quadrocopter is so small that it can be placed in the remote control.
In the test the X31 proves to be a rather good-natured copter, which is exactly adapted to the requirements of beginners and beginners: neither in the roll, nor in the thrust the inexpensive drone is all too nervous or excessively sensitive. For your first flights and cruising in your home, this is just the thing.
In the hand the small drone looks quite valuable, crashes forgive it well. The flight time is about 4-5 minutes, 30 minutes have to be planned for charging.

This distinguishes it from the other drones up to 20 euros:

foldable design
Battery permanently installed
Tiny small

2.) JJRC H36

Drone under 20 euros: JJRC H36 under test
I like the H36 fast and manoeuvrable best.

Price: 19 Euro

Flight time: 5 minutes

Charging time: 30 minutes

Special: fast & manoeuvrable

Compared to the X31, the next Nano-Copter is much more agile, agile and performant. Personally, the JJRC H36 is a bit more fun, because you can heat to your heart’s content.
Lightly built, equipped with a protective frame, neither the propellers nor the inventory can be damaged – if necessary, spare propellers are included.

I was able to fly about 5 minutes in the test, the battery was recharged after 30 minutes using the USB charging cable.

The JJRC H36, like the following Eachine E10, is a clone of the popular Blade Inductrix* – but it only costs about a third.

This distinguishes the JJRC H36 from other drones up to 20 Euros:

good haptics of the remote control
agile, nimble drone
Good flight characteristics

3.) Eachine E010: Third drone, second clone

Eachine E010: Cheap drone
Identical quadrocopter, which resembles like the H36 strongly the Blade Inductrix.

Price: 20 Euro

Flight time: 5 minutes

Charging time: 40 minutes

Especially: very manoeuvrable

What was said about the JJRC H36 applies analogously to the Eachine E010 drone: Beautiful quiet flight, little twitching and when you step on the gas, the mini quadrocopter is really fun. In the test I didn’t notice any difference between the Eachine E010 and the JJRC H36. In short: A typical clone except for the battery cable.

4.) Hexacopter JJRC H20

Buy Hexacopter for 20 Euro
Something different: A hexacopter on the mass market.

Price: 20 Euro

Flight time: 5-6 minutes

Charging time: 25 minutes

Especially: Hexacopter

After the foldable X31, now another speciality in the UAV sky: The JJRC H20 with its 6 motors is a so-called hexacopter (hexa = 6, quadro = 4) and the cheapest option for everyone who wanted to buy a hexacopter once in a lifetime.
In the mass market this type of Multicopter plays a subordinate role, only Yuneec relies on this type. In the professional segment, hexacopters such as the DJI platform M 600 are particularly appreciated for their redundancy, which would still allow the copter to land safely in the event of an engine failure.

Of course this is not the case with a 20 Euro drone! Nevertheless, the JJRC H20 Hexacopter is really fun and feels more accurate in terms of steering accuracy. In the test this feeling remains however only a limited time, since the Copter develops already in the second flight its own will and says goodbye for ever. Whether this is only an individual case I cannot judge, I informed the seller about it.

I was able to stay in the air for about 5:30 minutes in the JJRC H20 test, after which there was a 25-minute breather. I already know the more filigree protective frame from my beloved Blade Nano QX.

This distinguishes the JJRC H20 from other drones for 20 Euro:

6 engines (Hexacopter)
gold look
Fine flight performance

Conclusion: Are they worth it?

So far, I had my doubts about the sense of these nano drones. What should one expect for so little money and how well would the cheap copter fly at all? In the course of the test flights I had to clear up my reservations and, to be honest, I only have them for the X31, which is quite cool, but for me too little performant.
I found the Quadrocopter JJRC H36 and Eachine-E010 outstanding for the price of maximum 20 €. Agile, fast flight, stable hovering, not too long loading times – for hobby heaters and office planes these copters are a fun little gadget.
